Emefcy

About

Emefcy Ltd.  develops, manufactures and markets new, energy-efficient wastewater treatment solutions suitable for municipal and industrial plants. The company was founded in 2008 with a vision to improve the energy efficiency of wastewater treatment. Emefcy is led by Eytan Levy and Ronen Shechter who are veteran entrepreneurs with strong scientific backgrounds. With several global innovation awards, the company is at the forefront of the next generation of wastewater treatment solutions. Operating out of its offices in Caesarea and its manufacturing facility in Or Akiva, Israel, Emefcy (ASX: EMC) is a public company traded on the Australian Stock Exchange.

The MABR Technology
The Emefcy MABR is a modular decentralized wastewater treatment process, using 90% less energy than conventional technologies; it is a simple, low cost, modular and scalable solution for small wastewater treatment plants. The Emefcy MABR is based on spirally wound respiring membranes which provide oxygen to the process and support the growth of a nitrifying biofilm. Through integrated simultaneous nitrification and de-nitrification, it produces high quality effluent with less operational attention than any similarly performing process.

The EBR Technology
Electrogenic Bio Reactors (EBR) for wastewater treatment area futuristic wastewater treatment process. They are based on three components new to this field: Anaerobic Anodes where bacterial oxidation of organic matter occurs; Air cathodeswhere the corresponding oxygen reduction reaction takes place; And an electric circuit connecting the anodes to the cathodes through a control circuit. As a result of the unique bio-electro-chemical process in the EBR, an electric current is produced rather than the energy consumed in conventional treatment methods.

Production Capabilities
The Emefcy production facility in Or Akiva, Israel, is based on roll-to-roll processing of raw materials – membranes and spacers, into spirals that are then packed into customized tanks, to create a finished product. It is also equipped with supporting processing equipment for efficient manufacturing, as well as QA facilities to ensure each finished product unit is up to spec.
