About

Edwar Forero-Ortiz's current research interests and activities include water pipe failure modelling to support water supply planning in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, improving the current predictive capability of the tools/methodologies for prioritizing the water supply network renewal, and asset management modelling for water infrastructure. These activities are supported by the agreement between Aigües de Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya with its Industrial Doctorates programme.

For ten years, he focused on modelling and designing urban water systems, urban resilience, flood risk management, and climate change mitigation. Edwar has actively and successfully participated in an EC-co-funded project (RESCCUE) in technical areas. He has extensive experience in water engineering, hydroinformatics, water treatment, data science, and applied and computational physics, and he has presented eleven publications in journals and book chapters.

Edwar holds an M.Sc. in Euro Hydroinformatics and Water Management (Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis / Newcastle University / Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg / Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) with distinction and an M. Eng. in Earth & Environmental Sciences (Université Côte d'Azur, France).
